COLORWAY This colorway was inspired by a painting of Lois Mailou Jones called Les Vendeuses de Tissue. I left the title in the original French, but it simply means the fabric sellers. Jones was an amazing artist who painted from early childhood until she was in her 90s. She moved to Paris in the 1930s and later married a Haitian artist. She spent many years living in Haiti and painting scenes of everyday life there like this one.
This was my club colorway back in March 2021, and I absolutely adore the vibrant colors!
YARN BASE I dyed it on my Buttery Soft DK base, which is made of 45% baby alpaca, 45% extra-soft 19.5 micron merino, and 10% silk, and it really lives up to its name! This colorway is a little more muted on Buttery Soft DK than on many of my other yarn bases due to the alpaca and silk content.
Please note that this is NOT a superwash yarn. That means it can felt with agitation and changes in temperature, so it should be washed by hand in cool water. On the other hand, it can be fulled.
